For Marriott Claims Services Group

Hotel Chain’s Claims Services Group Selects Wyse Winterm Solutions To Provide Cost-Effective IT Management and Reduced TCO

Wyse Technology, the domain experts in server-centric computing, to provide a low-cost alternative to their current PC computing infrastructure. The result is that the claims division of one of the world’s largest hotel chains has cut IT management costs and reduced the total cost of desktop ownership in its seven regional offices throughout North America. The hotel’s claims services group chose Wyse®’s Wintermä thin clients based upon the company and product’s previous performance in other areas of Marriott over the past year. Since the group’s rollout of the Winterm 3360SE thin clients, they have realized substantial cost savings in the transition to a server-centric computing environment as well as the Winterm’s inherent manageability benefits, in an organization whose ratio of employees to IT support staff is 200 to 1.

“Before we deployed Wyse’s thin clients in our offices, the majority of my time was spent trying to manage and support each employee’s PC instead of allocating my time to focus on IT security and other vital responsibilities of my job,” said Peter Just, Marriott Risk Management Systems’ senior support analyst. “The availability of Rapport™ for Wyse management software to centrally manage the thin-client devices is very attractive for someone in my role. Wyse’s thin clients have allowed me to manage all of my upgrades from a single server. The enhanced manageability and security features that resulted from our transition to server-centric computing have created time and money savings, which ultimately get passed on to our customers.”

The Winterm 3360SE thin clients were seamlessly installed at Marriott Claim Services Offices by the hotel chain’s in-house IT staff. With their small footprint, Wyse’s thin clients improved office space efficiency, and the power saving and minimal support deployment costs reduce the claims services TCO by approximately 40%. Leveraging their previously installed Citrix MetaFrame infrastructure, the Winterm thin clients ensure that the IT staff at Marriott Risk Management Systems can update applications and employee access privileges from a central location. This provides the Marriott insurance group with a reliable server-centric IT environment that costs less to maintain than the PCs they have supported in the past.
