Wyse Technology to Deliver Server-Centric Computing Solutions Beyond Desktop Thin Clients

Expanded Strategy Maximizes the Benefits of Server-Centric Computing With Broad Portfolio of Products and Services; To Be Previewed at Citrix iForum

Wyse® Technology today announced an expanded corporate strategy to help customers maximize the benefits of server-centric computing. Wyse will extend the company's market position beyond desktop thin clients - a market they have led for five straight years - through strategic initiatives focusing on server enhancements, personal computer management solutions, mobile devices and professional services. Through this expanded product and services portfolio, and in conjunction with its strategic partners Microsoft® Corp. and Citrix® Systems, Wyse will maintain its thin-client market share lead and accelerate the growth of server-centric computing. Wyse will preview new technologies that support the server, desktop and mobile initiatives at Citrix iForum in Orlando, Fla., November 3-6, 2002.

"For the customer, the decision is not whether a PC or a thin client is the right choice, but rather how I can deliver the easiest and most affordable access to information, and what company can best deliver the products and the services to help me do it," said John Stringer, president and CEO of Wyse Technology Inc. "With this move, we are filling a void in the market. Wyse embraces a mixed PC and thin client desktop environment to help customers manage all of the devices on a network, and enable them to gain greater return on investment from their existing technology investments. This will reduce costs, mitigate security risks, and improve worker productivity. We will also be distinguished through our professional services, our ability to support the best channel and strategic partners such as Citrix and Microsoft, and a thorough product line that addresses customer needs across a vast spectrum of server-centric environments."

Helping the World Adopt Server-Centric Computing

CIOs and CTOs face many barriers that prevent them from adopting server-centric computing. They often have to deal with multiple companies - vendors providing servers, desktops, enterprise software, and networking products, plus professional consultants - in order to successfully deploy server-centric computing. To date, IT professionals have lacked a focal point that addressed the server, network and desktop - and provided the expertise to bring the whole solution together.

That's where Wyse comes in. From the client, through the network, to the server, Wyse has the products, services and domain expertise to reduce the barriers global enterprises face in adopting server-centric computing. The company integrates the industry's broadest hardware and software portfolio with unmatched professional expertise.

"Wyse Technology has a successful history of evolving to meet the changing computing challenges our customers face. The new initiatives demonstrate the significant value we bring to our customers, partners and investors," said George Skaff, vice president of worldwide marketing for Wyse Technology Inc. "Wyse's revenue will be a balanced portfolio of thin clients, complementary hardware and software, and professional services. We will extend our position as the de facto standard in thin clients and client management software, and our new products and services will enable our customers to derive maximum benefits from server-centric solutions. Wyse has been delivering these kinds of solutions for a select group of customers and now we are making them more widely available. We will participate in broader markets such as enterprise/client management, consumer appliances and mobile solutions, where our core strengths create a greater total available market and greater revenue and growth opportunities for our company."

Product Previews at Citrix iForum

At the Citrix iForum show, Wyse will preview server software that increases server capacity by as much as 30 percent. This allows CIOs to consolidate servers by attaching more PCs and thin clients to their existing infrastructure. Wyse will also preview a new wireless thin-client tablet running Windows CE. Ideal for medical, government and manufacturing environments, the new tablet from Wyse uses wireless access to display server and web-based information. Lastly, Wyse will demonstrate a new PC-based software package capable of locking-down less secure personal computers, turning them into manageable thin-clients. Companies with heavy PC investments can now make the move to server-centric computing with their existing with PC desktops. These new solutions will be available beginning in the first quarter of 2003.
