Wyse Technology Chosen by Microsoft as Windows Embedded OEM Partner of the Year for a Second Year in a Row.

Thin-Client Pioneer Honored For Success of Company's Work With Microsoft's Windows Embedded Operating Systems And Contributions to the Development Of Windows XP Embedded

San Jose, CA – 2001/12/03 - Wyse® Technology, the worldwide leader in secure, managed thin clients, today announced the company has been honored by Microsoft Corp. as a 2001 Windows Embedded Partner of the Year in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) category. Wyse was chosen for its proven business excellence in delivering Windows CE 3.0, Windows NT Embedded 4.0 thin-client solutions, and the impact of the company's projects on the Windows Embedded industry. Wyse was honored at the Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Summit in Las Vegas on November 27, 2001.

Wyse was a participant in Microsoft's Windows XP Embedded Rapid Development Program (RDP) helping to shape and influence the design of Windows XP Embedded. Involvement in the RDP program enabled Wyse to reduce development time for its own Windows XP Embedded-based thin-client devices and will allow Wyse to ensure that the varying needs of thin-client customers are addressed within the Windows XP Embedded operating system.

At the Windows Embedded Developers Conference last week, Wyse previewed the Wyse Winterm 9000 series based on the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded operating system. The new XP Embedded-based Wyse Winterm device delivers the benefits of personal computers with reduced complexity and lower costs. Wyse's Windows XP Embedded-based thin clients provide fault-tolerant IT solutions and enhanced corporate data security with new levels of robust peripheral support. These flexible thin clients will help drive down ongoing computing costs through the use of Wyse Rapport client management software, included with the Winterm 9000 series.

Secure, Managed Thin Clients

Wyse's secure, managed thin clients help maximize IT budgets while minimizing the risk of unauthorized access to mission-critical information. Winterm thin clients deliver the key elements of security - authorization, authentication, integrity and confidentiality - through four levels of security. This includes a first-level user-name and password security shield built directly into the thin client, protecting the server from unauthorized access, support for smart cards as a form of two-factor authentication and support for biometric authentication devices (three-factor) that verify the thumbprint of the user when access to the system is desired, the use of Citrix's Secure ICA protocol, providing up to 128-bit end-to-end encryption of an ICA data-stream, and the elimination of local storage that can be hacked or fail, causing important communication like e-mail to be corrupted, modified or simply not to be received.
